Help for Tornado Victims in Wichita, Ks

Catholic Charities, Inc – Diocese of Wichita is providing long-term disaster assistance to victims of the Oaklawn tornado, as well as to other areas affected by this past weekend’s severe weather. Walk-in assistance is available at the South-side Food Pantry, 2825 South Hillside, now through April 30. The pantry will operate extended hours for these walk-ins, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call (316) 264-8344 for more information.

Catholic Charities is also collecting non-perishable food, as well as cash and gift cards in increments up to fifty dollars to QuikTrip, Walmart, Dillons and Target, which can be delivered to the pantry during business hours. Cash donations can also be made at www.CatholicCharitiesWichita.org.

In addition, if you would like to volunteer for a clean-up crew working in the affected areas, please call the United Way’s 211 helpline, and ask to be registered as a Catholic Charities volunteer.

Our Bishops have stated, “Catholic education is only for those students who practice Stewardship along with their parents; are active in parish life, including regular participation in worship and reception of the Sacraments”. Admission to St. Margaret Mary School or one of the Catholic High schools will be based on a history of the Stewardship and participation of in the Sacraments in this parish or a previous parish if new to the area
