Welcome to Pre-School!

Dear Parents/Guardian(s),

Welcome to St. Margaret Mary Preschool. My name is Nelly Espinosa and I will be your child’s Pre-K teacher. It is a privilege for me to help you form your child into a young Catholic Disciple.

Here is some information for this school year.

Our preschool program is designed to developed basic concepts, attitudes, and skills as well as to capitalize on each child’s propensity to create. At all times the development of your child’s self-esteem and confidence is a paramount importance. To build a board foundation for your child’s success as a student, we will be focusing upon these essential early childhood skills.

  • Socialization
  • Language development
  • Eye-hand coordination
  • Manual Dexterity
  • Small Muscle Control
  • Conceptual development
  • Shape and numeral recognition
  • Following Directions
  • Perceptual discrimination
  • Listening
  • Color awareness

During the first month of school the children will get to know one another and we will establish some school routines and rules. Our readiness activities will mark our entry into the wonderful world of coloring, shapes, numbers, and letters. We will be singing, painting, coloring, and playing. My lesson plan also includes Religion for Pre-K  students and young children.

We do a lot of hands on exploration activities in the classroom that may cause your child to get dirty. Please make sure that your child has two complete changes of clothes. (socks, underwear, shorts, shirt, etc.)

At the beginning of each month you will receive a calendar explaining the activities for each unit. Also, your child will be sent home with extra practice activities to build the same skills that are being taught in the class. Occasionally, your child will be given projects to complete at home that should be returned to school to be shared with the rest of the class. Parental involvement is very important to the academic success of your child. The more interest your show in what they are learning, the more interest your child will show in what is being taught.

Please feel free to contact me anytime about your child or Pre-K classroom. Let’s do our best to make this 2015-2016 a great school year!
